Vision & Values
The Cathedral’s core purpose is to share the love of God in Christ Jesus, affirming life in all its fullness and drawing people into relationship with him.
Peterborough Cathedral is..
- An Anglican Cathedral, the ‘Mother Church’ of the Diocese of Peterborough, the seat of the Bishop of Peterborough and a centre of Christian mission and ministry.
- A community of prayer centred on Christ’s love – powerfully expressed by the great figure of the crucified Christ at the head of the nave.
- Committed to being a safe and secure environment for all.
- At the heart of a diverse and growing city, its most significant historic building, a valued venue and a focus of identity and local pride.
- One of the great Norman churches of England, a royal burial place, a building of national and international significance.
Our Aims
- A worshipping community that is growing in size, diversity and prayerfulness.
- A welcoming place, where all who come feel valued, welcomed and engaged.
- A place that is outward-looking, serving the community, contributing to the growth and development of the city, valued by its citizens.
- An effective resource for the Diocese in its mission and ministry, supporting the teaching role and leadership of the Bishop.
- A good employer which invests in its staff, encouraging them to grow in confidence in their roles, and rewarding them appropriately.
- Financially sustainable, demonstrating good stewardship and investing in mission for the benefit of all.
