Peterborough Cathedral offers a library for research and academic projects, accessible by arrangement as it does not have regular hours.
Most of the Cathedral’s pre-1800 books and papers are housed in the Rare Books Collection at Cambridge University Library, which holds nearly 4,500 volumes, including about 60 incunabula. Researchers can access these items through the online catalogue, iDiscover, or consult the catalogue edited by J.J. Hall (1986).
The remaining collection at Peterborough Cathedral, located in the former Trinity Chapel, features 19th and 20th-century religious texts, documents related to the Cathedral (such as the Irvine Papers by J.T. Irvine), local history books, and newspaper archives. It also includes calendars of proceedings from Medieval and Tudor courts.
