Pastoral Care & Discipleship
Peterborough Cathedral is committed to providing pastoral care and discipleship within its Christian community, ensuring support for those in need through prayer and personal outreach.
Key pastoral services include daily prayers for individuals on the prayer list, home Communion for those unable to attend services due to illness, and visits to seriously ill members, subject to health restrictions. The clergy are also available for confessions and pastoral discussions by appointment.
Prayer requests are welcomed, and individuals can email their needs to pastoralcare@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk for inclusion in Morning Services. The Cathedral prioritises safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults, providing appropriate contacts for support.
In terms of discipleship, the Cathedral fosters growth in the knowledge and love of Christ, encouraging members to view themselves as lifelong learners in faith. Baptism initiates this journey, and while discipleship can be challenging, it is centred on transformation through the Holy Spirit. The Cathedral emphasises the importance of nurturing faith within the community, offering resources tailored to seekers and Christians at various stages of their spiritual journeys.
Efforts are ongoing to enhance learning and discipleship opportunities, building on existing programs and aligning with initiatives from the Diocese of Peterborough.
