Join us for a one-off creative writing workshop and discover the incredible Cathedral library!

New! Creative Writing Workshop

Creative Writing at the Cathedral explores different forms of writing to kick-start your work, by formulating new ideas and developing them in fresh and dynamic ways.

Over the four hours we will be examining and experimenting with different forms of writing, trying fun exercises to get us writing, looking at craft tips and talking through our ideas.

Whether you want to write poems, short stories or scripts, our creative writing for beginners classes are the best way to help you find the form that best suits your individual voice - through practical exercises that boost your confidence and unlock your creative potential in a safe and supportive environment. You’ll work practically to produce short pieces of content and develop a critical awareness of others’ writing styles.

  • Short exercises to inspire ideas
  • Different genres of creative writing; drama, poetry, short stories etc.
  • Plot, structure, creating characters and narrative

This one-off creative writing course is designed to encourage, inspire and stimulate critical thinking.

You will be encouraged to share your work in class and learn from one another. You will also receive friendly feedback.

There will also be biscuits. Really nice ones. Plus we'll take you through the secret door at the West Front up to the magnificent Cathedral library which is not open to the public...
