Planning your group visit
Groups wishing to have a private tour are welcome to pre-book a guided tour or ‘Special Interest’ tour, with your dedicated guide. Groups of 10 or more wishing to visit the cathedral un-guided are required to pre-book their visit
The Cathedrals of the Church of England receive limited funding from the church and government and rely on donations, legacies and grants as well as the income they can generate for themselves. That means here at Peterborough we must raise over £5800 a day through our own endeavours and with the vital help of our visitors, congregation and supporters.
Our responsibility to maintain and support this historical site for future generations means that we ask tourism visitors to contribute to that upkeep with an admission charge.
Our guided, un-guided and special interest tours are:
- THE CATHEDRAL TOUR, (£8 per person) - The burial place of two queens, a unique ceiling and a mysterious Saxon treasure are just some of the ‘highlights’ to discover on one of our 60 minute highlight tours. Our fantastic guides will lead you on a journey to explore how the Cathedral came to be and tell you stories of some of the inspiring figures remembered here.
- THE ARCHITECTURE TOUR, (£10 per person) - Architectural enthusiasts will love this! A day of exploring Peterborough Cathedral, inside, outside and upwards, in the company of a knowledgeable guide.
- THE TUDOR TOUR, (£10 per person) - From Abbey to Cathedral, this family-friendly tour is a chance to hear about life in Tudor Peterborough.
- THE WOMEN OF PETERBOROUGH, (£10 per person) - Hear stories of some of the remarkable women remembered at Peterborough Cathedral.
- AN UPPER LEVELS & TOWER TOUR, (£15 per person) - Find out more here
- A PRECINCTS TOUR, (£10 per person) - Discover the fascinating medieval buildings surrounding the Cathedral.
- AN UN-GUIDED TOUR, (£4 per person) - Discover Peterborough Cathedral at leisure using the information boards provided.
