Non-Executive Member of Chapter (Volunteer)

Could YOU help to lead Peterborough Cathedral?  

We are looking for someone with significant experience in business, finance, net zero or the heritage sector to join us as a Non-executive Member of Chapter. 

Chapter is the board of trustees which directs and oversees the work of the Cathedral, and is a registered charity.  Chapter comprises the Cathedral’s passionate and committed clergy team and our non-executive members, under the leadership of the Dean, Chris Dalliston.    

The Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese and a centre for ministry and mission, welcoming many thousands of worshippers, pilgrims and visitors each year.  It is one of the finest Norman cathedrals in England and is a major heritage site in its own right.  It is served by exceptional staff and volunteer teams across a wide range of disciplines, and boasts an outstanding music department and an excellent educational outreach to the city, Diocese and beyond.  We host a range of events throughout the year to assist us in funding the life and work of the Cathedral, which costs over £2m each year. 

In this voluntary position, you will bring your professional experience, a willingness to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, and a keen awareness and passion for the fundamental spiritual purpose of the Cathedral in this most fulfilling of roles. 

Our ambition is that Chapter reflects the diversity of the city and Diocese which we serve.  You must be an actual communicant of the Church of England, or a church in communion with the Church of England, or a member of a Church which is not in communion with the Church of England but which adheres to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.  Chapter members are formally trustees of the registered charity.
