Cathedral joins Archbishops’ call to pray for our nation

Thursday 4 February

Peterborough Cathedral will be posting short reflections and prayers on its social media channels at 6.00pm each weekday from now until the start of Lent.

This is in response to the call by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to pray for our nation as it faces the enormity of the Covid pandemic.

The Cathedral clergy, including Bishop Donald, will take turns to present the 5 minute videos, usually from their own home and including the lighting of a candle.

Viewers are encouraged to use the videos as a prompt to stop and pray. They might also wish to light a candle at home whilst they are watching, and share the videos on their own social media using #PrayerForTheNation.

Each evening’s video can be viewed at any time from 6.00pm on the Cathedral’s Facebook or YouTube channels.
All the videos to date can be viewed by following this link to the Call to Prayer YouTube playlist.

Covid-19 online prayer trail

In November 2020 the Cathedral published Covid-19: All We Have Lost, a Prayer Trail of Lament and Hope, a series of short videos to help people reflect on the multiple effects of the pandemic on our lives. The trail consists of 11 short videos, each on a different topic. It can be watched in one go or used as a daily series of reflections.

You can view the prayer trail by following this link to the Covid-19 Youtube playlist.

The first video in the series is shown below:
