We are delighted to announce an award from the Cathedral Music Trust

Peterborough Cathedral is delighted to have been awarded a new grant from the Cathedral Music Trust (CMT).  The grant of £30,000 from the CMT’s Music Support Programme is to be used over three years towards the costs of employing our Music Department Administrator.  This is a pivotal role that helps our choristers, junior/youth choir members and other musicians to focus on sustaining the highest standards as they provide a full schedule of choral music at our Cathedral and civic services.

The Cathedral’s Director of Music, Tansy Castledine, said:

“This funding towards the salary cost of our Music Department Administrator at Peterborough Cathedral is crucial to the continued smooth running of our very busy department, as well as supporting its sustainability. This role keeps everything running smoothly in the music family as we look after 52 choristers and a further 75 young people in our junior and youth choirs, in addition to our scholars and Lay Clerks; across those choirs choral music is provided for eight services per week at the Cathedral as well as at occasional services at the local parish church. The role also supports fundraising for the music department, working in partnership with the Cathedral’s small fundraising team.”

We thank the CMT for its much-valued support in helping the Cathedral to sustain its precious musical traditions.
