A celebratory end to the year for our interns and apprentices

Wednesday 17 July

There was a joyful atmosphere at the Cathedral on Tuesday (16th July) as the Diocese's 11 Echo interns and Xpect apprentices came together for an end-of-year worship, Eucharist and celebration service.

40 people attended the event in the Cathedral's North Transept. Revd Canon Tim Alban Jones, Vice Dean and Chaplain to the Bishop of Peterborough, led the service, and said it was a happy occasion. "It was a joyful Eucharist in which all the interns joined with unabashed enthusiasm and energetic singing," he said.

The Xpect youth work internship is a one year scheme for those called to do Christian youth work, whereas the Echo ministry internship is a one year course for those exploring a vocation of Church leadership.

The four Xpect apprentices for 2018/19 were:

Alia Newton
Claire Reetz
Jacob Hussain
Lizzie Moesbauer

The seven Echo interns for 2018/19 were:

Amy Stevenson
Cameron Benoy
Charles Prosser
Helen Smedley
James O'Sullivan
Jonathan Lee
Shakeel Nurmahi

After the service, Cameron Benoy said: "It was amazing to celebrate with everyone for everything that has happened in the last year," he said. "We're different people now, and better equipped, inspired and ready for whatever God brings into our lives."

Amy Stevenson and Lizzie Moesbauer will be moving onto the Diocesan Gen2 Project from September – you can find out more about this scheme here – but wherever they are moving on to next, we wish all of our interns and apprentices God's richest blessings for the future.
