Following his wonderful concert in November 2019, award-winning pianist Janusz Piotrowicz returns to Peterborough Cathedral on Saturday 29th October with a recital of works by Scarlatti, Mozart, Liszt, Rachmaninov and Chopin.
Piotrowicz made his piano concerto début in Windsor Castle with Rachmaninov 3, and his London recital début with Chopin's 2nd and 3rd Sonatas and the Brahms Paganini Variations. After winning the Nawrocki Prize for the most poetic interpreter in the 1975 Warsaw International Chopin Piano Competition, he launched his international career, often delivering up to 300 performances a year.
His return to the Cathedral is eagerly awaited, as Canon Tim Alban Jones, Vice Dean at the Cathedral, explains:
“When Janusz last played at the Cathedral, from the moment his fingers touched the keys the audience sat spellbound and transfixed. The eloquence and elegance of his playing filled the Cathedral with beauty. His communication with the audience through the music was awe-inspiring.
“We are very much looking forward to his return with his creative and imaginative programme. This is an evening not to be missed - particularly as it will be combined with the Cathedral's flower exhibition. It promises to be a feast for the senses.”
The Celebration of Flowers exhibition will be open during the concert interval for the audience to view.
The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £15 or £20 and are available online here:

Founder and conductor of the Orchestra of the World (L'Orchestre du Monde), Piotrowicz’s Royal Albert Hall series has included the performance of works by Bach, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. He is founder and artistic director of the Ripon International Festival of Music and the Arts and in 1986 he established The World Trust, which promotes and supports humanitarian causes across the globe.
