Tour the Cathedral Precincts on Saturday 21st July
Anyone who enjoys the tranquillity of the green spaces around Peterborough Cathedral on a summer afternoon, and is curious about old buildings, may be interested to know that a guided Precincts Tour will take place on Saturday 21st July at 12.00pm.
The tour will explore the history of the buildings and open spaces surrounding the Cathedral. The Tour includes Tout Hill – the remains of a motte and bailey castle built by a Norman abbot in the 11th century to house knights and protect the Cathedral against Saxon and Viking attacks – and parts of the medieval monastic buildings.
NB: The route may be subject to change on the day.
Tickets will cost £8 for adults / £6 concessions – book via www.ticketisland.co.uk/peterboroughcathedral or call 01733 452336.
Come to an Advanced Architectural Photography Masterclass in August and September
Sharpen your photography skills at an Advanced Architectural Photography Masterclass at Peterborough Cathedral – the one day course takes place on both Tuesday 14th August and Tuesday 4th September from 10.00am to 4.15pm.
Using exterior and interior locations, you will pick up tips about selecting the best vantage points, using depth of field, and lighting your subject to simplify and strengthen your images.
You will be under the expert guidance of Adrian Stone – an experienced photographer, curator and tutor who has taught at City College Peterborough for five years, and who judges, lectures and runs photography workshops in the East and South East. Cathedral guides will also be on hand to answer your questions about the Cathedral itself.
It is also hoped that there will be the opportunity to photograph the Tim Peake’s Spacecraft exhibition in the Cathedral, alongside other visitors.
Please bring your own camera and a packed lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided.
Tickets will cost £40 per person and there are limited places. Book via www.ticketisland.co.uk/peterboroughcathedral or call 01733 452336.
