Sun 13th October - Pedestrian access only to the Cathedral due to the Great Eastern Run

Peterborough’s cathedral chosen by ITV as 'takeaway rainbow' location

Saturday 27 March

Peterborough Cathedral, the magnificent landmark at the heart of the city of Peterborough, was thrown into the spotlight this evening when ITV’s live show, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, chose the location for its #itvtakeawayrainbow feature.

During this popular part of the show, viewers are invited to look out of their windows to see if they can see a rainbow of colourful spotlights thrown into the sky. If they can see it, and live within two miles of the spot, they can go online to the show’s website and enter the competition to win a dream holiday prize.

The winner is randomly selected from the entries during the show, then live on camera the singer Fleur East heads round to their doorstep to award the prize.

The Very Revd Chris Dalliston, Dean of Peterborough, said:

"We're so delighted to share this brief glimpse of our wonderful Cathedral with people all around the country. We hope that it will entice many to want to visit our great city and explore the treasures of this fantastic building."

ITV had contacted the Cathedral out of the blue a couple of weeks ago to say they had come across the ‘amazing cathedral’ and thought it would be a perfect location for their takeaway rainbow segment. They sent one of their team on a site visit and then, just a few days ago, confirmed that the the location had definitely been selected.
