Cathedral's Ukrainian Project to end after successful year

Over the past year Peterborough Cathedral has established a successful Ukrainian project co-ordinated by Jurgita Bilinskiene aimed at assisting refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. Based on site, the project which included the Ukrainian Empowerment Forum, Christmas Dream Appeal, 1-2-1 support and much more has helped support the city’s wider efforts to place refugees with host families. The Empowerment Forum which ran every Wednesday delivered 22 sessions on over 20 different topics with over 190 individual attendees. The Christmas Dream Appeal was able to accomplish 67 dreams and gave out Christmas hampers to over 14 families. Perhaps the biggest success in the city has been the sheer amount of support that there is in so many different places.

With this in mind, the program here at the Cathedral was closed at the end of June when Jurgita’s contract ended and we would like to extend a huge thankyou to her for all her hardwork and expertise.

We are continuing to host a family in the precincts for the foreseeable future, and will be supporting them wherever we can.
