Explore the mysteries of the deep from a theological perspective with Dr Rebecca Watson.

Rebecca Watson is Lead Tutor in Old Testament and Director of Studies at the Eastern Region Ministry Course, Cambridge and Senior Tutor for the Christian, Rural and Environmental Studies (CRES) Programme, based at Ripon College, Cuddesdon.

Since completing her doctorate at Oxford, she has spent many years in theological education, preparing people for ordained ministry, mainly in the Church of England, and has held research fellowships at Derby and Cambridge Universities. Her research interests include the relation between Canaanite and biblical religions, ecological criticism of the Bible, especially as concerns the sea and its creatures, and psychological approaches to the Psalms.

Her publications include Blue Planet, Blue God: The Bible and The Sea, co-authored with Prof. Meric Srokosz, Emeritus Professor of Physical Oceanography at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, which brings scientific and biblical perspectives on the sea into dialogue, and, most recently, Conversations on Biblical and Canaanite Themes: Creation, Chaos and Monotheism, which likewise centres around dialogue between scholars who bring different perspectives to shared topics of interest.
