As the beautiful earth artwork rotates above your head, sit back and listen as Gabriella Pineda-Rodrigues, mezzo soprano, accompanied by pianist Kate Wishart, entertains with popular songs and operatic arias to mark the close of the Gaia exhibition.
The programme includes songs from musical theatre blockbusters such as The Sound of Music, Les Misérables and Carousel, as well as some of the more famous operatic arias and 1960's hits such as Moon River. The audience will be invited to sing along with some of the verses.
Gabriella began her career as a chorister in the Cathedral Choir before going on to study at Chetham's School of Music and then at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Alongside her recital schedule, she teaches singing at various schools in Peterborough.
The Gaia earth artwork, created by the artist Luke Jerram, has been attracting visitors ever since it was hung under the central tower of Peterborough Cathedral on 19th August. There will be an extended interval during which guests can view the exhibition on its final evening. The exhibition closes to visitors at 3.30pm on Sunday 15th September, although anyone is welcome to attend the 3.30pm Evensong, and 5.30pm On Holy Ground, services on that date.
